Students Craft Their Own Learning With MinecraftEDU

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Minecraft is a well-known and popular game among students. It's popular because it is highly engaging and open-ended. Students learn by teaching themselves and each other, and they succeed in the game through problem solving and cooperation.

MinecraftEDU is a specialized version of the game that allows a teacher to oversee and control the gaming experience in a class setting. Many educators are beginning to harness the engagement and motivation of Minecraft in their classes using MinecraftEDU. Come play along with and explore ways to use gaming in the curriculum.  Please note this works on laptops/computers and not on tablets including the iPad.

I love gaming in education, and also any focus on making learning fun. I teach a computer science class and have an advisory, but the biggest part of my job is supporting teachers in trying new things. I am also kind of addicted to professional development and karaoke.
